"Someone Like You" is a book about two best friends, Halley and Scarlett. When Scarlett finds out she is pregnant to Michael, he dies in a car accident. This book goes through the next nine months of Scarlett's pregnancy - of Halley getting involved with Michael's friend Macon, dilemmas in friendship and relationships and also family problems.
I found this book very good as I couldn't put it down and would recommend it. I found it the most interesting of all Dessen's books I have so far read ('This Lullaby' was probably 2nd!)

Personally I think this is one of the best novels ever written about the meaning of friendship and having someone to count on in any situation. While Halley is always there to give Scarlett courage and support during the different stages of her unwanted pregnancy, Scarlett helps Halley figure out her life while she is taking a walk on the wild side with her new boyfriend. I think Sarah Dessen did a wonderful job with this book as it is understandably written and a great book for all ages that can easily be read nonstop.

When I finished reading this book, I put it down for the first time in ages, and sat and thought, and thought some more. WHY THE HECK DOES THIS BOOK LEAVE ME IN TEARS?

Thats right, i've read plenty of books and this is the first one that made me cry. I just wish that Halley could figure things out with Macon. When she went through that stage of when she first met Macon everything was really dangerous and exciting and really...ALIVE and then it dies down and suddenly Halley doesn't want to know Macon any more.

When they go to that prom, and Macon's their looking at her i just so wished that he would come up to her and kiss her and everything would be alright again, but this is 'Sarah Dessen' she doesn't make everything alright and happy-ever-after at the end and i suppose it just hit me as a shock to know that Macon - the guy that had once made Halley so happy, will never make her happy again.

I was completely traumatized. To be honest I hope Sarah rights the sequel to this book, because I really want to see Macon be the same guy Halley first met.

Anyhow i loved this book and have read it 8 times and counting, it's the kinda teenage book you really relate to, from mother-daughter problems, to the whole boyfriend thing. Fantastic read great for all teenagers.
