Product Description

Product Description

The rambling Villa Perdita should provide an idyllic summer setting for Lesley, her family and her friends. But soon after they arrive they discover that all is not what it ought to be. Disappearing neighbours bring the police to their door. The holiday visitors to the Villa find themselves under investigation, inadvertently entangled with the fate of the strangers they hardly know. This sets in motion a string of events in which each becomes a player. The characters from Nobody I Know find themselves reassessing their futures as love, jealousies, underworld plots and betrayals shift them back and forth against the stunning backdrop of the French Pyrenees. Some bonds are strengthened while others crumble under the pressure, leading to unexpected consequences. Returning home, they find their experiences at the Villa Perdita are impossible to shake off, resulting in a summer none of them is likely to forget.

Phyl Wright's Somebody Maybe is a classic vacation mystery tale. Set in the foothills of the French Pyrenees just an hour from the Mediterranean, the action takes place at Villa Perdita, a summer getaway recently bought by Eleanor, matriarch of a large family of contemporary young British adults in various stages of romance in their lives. When neighbors vacationing in the next villa over are kidnapped, each one of the five brothers and sisters, and their friends and lovers, are inextricably pushed into reevaluating their lives and relationships. Things are not what they seem, but this is accomplished without undue contrivance. The limitations of the individual to properly perceive an entire situation, as well as reveal all that she or he holds in heart and mind, is unveiled in a refreshingly frank and open manner. In tone, the writing is sophisticated while maintaining a strong sense of decency. The mystery hinges, not on plot devices, but on the labyrinthine qualities of the human heart, where guilt and self-doubt blend with hopes and dreams. Besides being a fun, intriguing read on a sunny beach while on vacation, or back at home on a rainy weekend, Somebody Maybe is a paean to the potentially transformative qualities of vacation and the part this cherished institution plays in modern lives.

I want to be there!! 25 Oct 2008
By Philip
Format:Paperback
Yet again Phyl has produced a completely compelling read. The descriptions or the surroundings, and that of the characters are so vivid that you will want to be there in the Pyrenees with them. As with the last book, this one made me laugh, smile and cry - yes I am a guy but I dare the biggest and hardest of you not to shed a tear!
Somebody Maybe is a complete get away from the reality of life, and as soon as I put this book down I wanted to start reading it from the begining again.

Please let there be another!!!

Fantastic!!!!!!
