The original album cover shows David at the age of 17 standing together by a car with his friends Bud Wyatt and Charlie Sykes, at his parents gas station, in Brandon, Florida in 1971. David said: "The car is Bud's one, a 1957 Chevy Nomad, that we drove to Hollywood when I was suppose to be a Movie Star." Unfortunately he didn't made it becoming a famous Hollywood Star, but again good to hear that he made it becoming a genius Singer-Songwriter! After the legendary 1996 "Acrylic Teepees" album, this new one is finally another, long awaited Band CD with so many different and good musicians involved. The world-famous Pedal steel guitar player BJ Cole for example plays on several tracks, which all shows so many musical styles and varieties, somewhere between Folk, Pop and Rock. "Grace" comes as a real, driving Rocker which I never have heard before from David Munyon. As usual not to be missed are some beautiful Love-Songs like "A natural charm" and "Let's dance the night away". Or the wonderful melancholy "Rolling up the windows in the rain", which impressed me already deeply, when I've heard David playing it on a concert some years ago. The touching lines of "Souls of Africa" are very personal and with eight minutes running time not only the longest track on the album, but also David's magnificent Song-Message for the children of the wars in Africa. My particular personal highlight is "Walking in the storm", which gives me always the creeps, since the first time I've listened to it. The chorus of that one was sung together with the fine female voice of Dagmar Wirtz - a fitting contrast to David's deep sounding voice. Not just the well choice of Songs and music made the CD really worth to buy: The pretty nice artwork and the 18 pages booklet, with the original lyrics straight from David's big Songbook, is another reason why!
