4.0 out of 5 stars Inspiring book 31 Oct 2013

This isn't a work of great literature and it reads like it was written in haste. That said, I find it incredibly inspiring. If you want to get some more idea of what life in your church and a relationship with God COULD be like, read this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Controversial classic re-evaluated. 27 Feb 2010
Format:Paperback
When this book came out the prophetic was a developing force in the western church t that time. Many were concerned with the content of the book at that time as it seemed to indicate that God not only spoke to people, but spoke with great accuracy and insight into the hearts of men and from the Spirit of God. Well now the dust has long settled it is good to see where we have come from then and now see some of the amazing fruit that this move of God brought to the body of Christ. Established ministries now go around the world with the foundational truths and examples that were laid down in this book. You don't have to agree, but this does demonstrate a wonderfully caring God, intimate with those who seek Him.

3.0 out of 5 stars God can use anybody at any time for any reason 27 Dec 2010
By mills - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
The fact that it was later discovered that key Prophets, like Paul Cain had personal issues of gross misconduct does not negate his prior positive work for the Lord. The Bible does not gloss over the mistakes, sins and misdeeds of God's people. Didn't God used flawed vessels in the Bible that later fell into temptation?

The Bible is clear that the redeemed of the Lord are saved out of darkness and called into God's marvelous light. The struggle of our sin nature and new nature is a civil war that will continue to the very end of our lives. Who can boast that they merited the goodness and mercy of God by their own righteousness since it was the gift of Grace, unearned and undeserved Grace? (Ephesians 2:8-9)

The problem is people confuse the messenger with God Himself. Also, the Fruit of the Spirit is not the same as (having) the gift of the Spirit. Spiritual gifts are described as unmerited and undeserved.

Don't ask me why God gives gifts to the least deserving of us. I can only say that it speaks more about His (God's)goodness and perfect Attributes than anything else.

To be clear, I do not give a blanket pass to everybody proclaiming to be a Prophet but I will say that I believe that God did use Paul Cain. God can use anyone he wants to use for his own plan and purpose.
