Product Description

Product Description

A spectacular illustrated companion to the most popular British sitcom of all time, authorized by the writer, Raymond Allen. In its Seventies heyday, Some Mother's Do 'Ave 'Em was pulling in up to twenty million viewers and astonishingly, nothing has been published about it before. Indeed Frank Spencer, the mac and beret-wearing wimp, played by Michael Crawford has become a national institution and his catch phrase, 'Ooo, Betty' is one of the most evocative quotes in sitcom history. Find out how Norman Wisdom was originally courted by the BBC for the role of Frank Spencer, and how Michael Crawford did all those dangerous stunts himself. With a full episode guide, exclusive pictures and inside stories, as well as the inspiration behind the scripts, this is the complete companion to the most popular British sitcom.

About the Author

Richard Webber is a writer and journalist whose extensive works on classic comedy include the bestselling The Complete A-Z of Dad's Army and Rising Damp: A Celebration.
