The complete collection of every episode ever made, including the 'specials', of the classic BBC TV comedy series 'Some Mothers Do 'Ave 'Em. From hanging off his car over a cliff edge to roller-skating down the high street behind a bus, accident-prone Frank (Michael Crawford) just seems to find one harrassment after another. In 'The Job Interview' Frank manages to get stuck in a lift en route to his latest job interview. 'George's House' sees Frank unimpressed by Betty's brother's gadget-filled house - especially after he manages to break everything. 'Love Thy Neighbour' has Frank use the new neighbour's phone when Betty's mother has one of her turns. 'Have a Break, Take a Husband' finds Frank and Betty embarking on their second honeymoon. In 'The Hospital Visit' Frank has to fend for himself while Betty is in hospital. 'The Psychiatrist' sees Frank attempt to convince himself - and his therapist - that he is not a total failure. Whilst 'The Employment Exchange' has Frank get into trouble with a tea urn and a computer when he starts his new job. In 'Cliffhanger' Frank has a new job and a new car so he decides to go on a picnic on the edge of a cliff. 'The RAF Reunion' has Frank recall his short time in the RAF. 'The Public Relations Course' finds Frank causing havoc when he attends a residential PR course. 'Frank and Marvin' sees Frank practising his ventriloquist act with Marvin the Monkey. 'Father's Clinic' has Frank prepare for his impending fatherhood by taking his nieces rollerskating. And 'The Baby Arrives' finds Frank and Betty rushing to the hospital ready for the arrival of their firstborn. In 'Moving House' Frank turns his hand to DIY. In 'Wendy House' he enrols in a woodwork course to build a doll's house for Jessica. In 'Scottish Dancing' he is called up for a Scottish Dancing exhibition. In 'Men as Women' Frank takes over the role of an ugly sister in the local hospital's production of Cinderella. In 'King of the Road' he gets a new job as a despatch rider. And finally in 'Australia House' Frank and Betty decide to emigrate to Australia but first they have to go for an emigration interview.

I don't remember when I was first 'introduced' to Frank Spencer and his madcap ways - I was too young. But I always remember thinking that he was really funny, and if an episode of Some Mothers Do 'Ave 'Em was on the TV, then I'd always watch it. As I got older, I found them even more humorous as I 'got' some of the jokes that in my innocence would have totally bypassed me. And now I'm hooked.

When I saw all of the episodes were available as a box set, I just had to have it. People may think it's unusual that someone of my age would rather watch a show that was first shown on TV before I was born that some of the modern stuff. But this show is a classic and I love it. It's got none of the special effects of today's shows, and it doesn't need crimes, deaths, affairs and teenage pregnancies to make it compelling viewing. It's just pure and simple comedy; a show about the life of a good, but completely deranged simpleton and his long-suffering (and also not that bright) wife. Of course, some of the scenes are pretty unrealistic, but I think it's that which makes it so funny. And I never get bored of watching them - the episodes are just so silly, and I think Frank Spencer's "Ooo Betty!" catchphrase has already gone down in history and will continue to be used in conversation for years to come.

If you too, were born after this show was filmed but have no idea what I'm talking about, seriously, give it a try. If you like silly, slapstick humour - you will love Frank Spencer. Never fails to make me laugh.

I remember 'Some mothers' from my childhood with fond memories, and whilst some of the slapstick humuor has tired with age (probably I'm turning into a miserable old git), it's still classic British comedy that's raised more than the odd smile.
Obviously this is a personal opinion, and there may be some others who detest this style of humour, but one episode on Series 2 (Public relations) made me cry with laughter the other day. Nothing has done that for quite a while, and for that reason, it's getting five stars.

I'm only 18 so I'm not really old enough to have watched it when it was originally on TV. However, I saw a few episodes on UK Gold and I was hooked. It was and is the funniest show I have ever seen! I was so pleased to see that this box set was available with every single episode on it and I had to buy it. Every single episode that I have seen has left me in stitches. The fact that they are quite old makes it even funnier!
Buy it, it is better than any comedy around today.

I have just received this today. I also purchased the "Frequently bought together" item called The Specials. I now have two copies of this since it is included in the Complete BBC Series. It should make a lovely Christmas gift to someone.

I purchased this entire box set on VHS from Amazon.co.uk a few years ago after seeing episodes of Some Mothers 'Do Ave Em' on the BBC and UKGold channels. The series was going well before I was born as I was born in 1980 and having watched the repeats I fell in love with the series and just had to buy the box set when I found out one was available after browsing the internet!

Enjoy again and again this classic, timeless vintage BBC comedy starring Michael Crawford as accident prone Frank Spencer and Michele Dotrice as suffering wife Betty. This box set has every episode ever made including the 3 Christmas Specials.

From hanging his car over a cliff edge to roller skating down the high street behind a bus, Frank Spencer meets up with one disaster and harassment after another as nothing ever goes right for him! If you remember the series from the 1970's, are a huge fan and enjoy a great laugh, this really is an essential purchase for you! I watch this time and time again and even to this day still enjoy it just as much. So much infact I am now thinking of upgrading my VHS collection of the series to DVD! Brilliant and what a star Michael Crawford is! They certainly don't make them like this anymore!

Awesome show, but I just want to warn people - currently when you go to buy this, it says customers often buy this collection with the Specials collection. However, the specials are actually INCLUDED in the set, so you don't have to buy them. I learnt this the hard way :(
