Read this book about 40 years ago and decided to see how the great Rex Stout had weathered translation into the eBook generation. Brilliant as ever, but somehow Archie's sharp repartee didn't quite fit as much as I remembered it. Nevertheless I would rate it as 5 star compared to the modern offerings and I will certainly re-read some of the others.

Another excellent Nero Wolf saga with Archie in fine form, the baddies as usual under the impression they can outwit a genius, and the dialog as snappy as you could wish. Highly recommended.

A prize winning bull is about to be barbecued as a publicity stunt, and murder follows. A real prime cut from Stout as Wolfe, in desperate need of a chair to contain his ample bulk, agrees to take on a tricky case. Wolfe grumps and offends everyone in sight, Archie's as cool as can be, and the wonderful Lily Rowan makes her first appearance. A first rate novel and a good place to start if you're new to the world of Nero Wolfe.
