I borrowed a wooden ramp, covered in soft rubber from a friend and my dog quickly learnt to walk up it. I bought this ramp thinking it would be lighter, easier to handle and more stable for my dog. She hated the noise her claws made on the hard, sandpaper like surface. She also found it very difficult to grip the surface with her paws. It scared her to scratch her claws along it. I have discovered a folded towel, laid lengthwise down it provides a tactile surface she will happily walk up. It is easy to fold and lift into the car, but the surface could be improved to make it softer for the dogs' paws.
