This product is over-complicated and I have since bought a simpler product at half the price. I have sold the Soleus to another runner.
The instructions are inadequate/unclear.
I would not recommend this product to others.

GREAT for the track. Wish the beeps were louder though. 31 May 2014
By John Nguyen - Published on
Colour Name: BlackSize: Large
I also have the Soleus 1.0 GPS watch and even though that was at the time the smallest GPS watch available, and this watch is TECHNICALLY larger, this watch is actually more wieldy and lighter and can pass much more easily as a casual watch. That said, the face is still huge and can be easily read, moreso than the 1.0.

1) Front light-up button has to be pressed deeply to engage, at least on my copy.
2) There is no combination of timer + chronograph function, so if you are running splits using the countdown timer you will not be able to save the run session.
3) Indiglo backlight is aqueduate but not super bright. You won't be impressing anyone at a rave with this watch.
4) Biggest con: the beep sound on the timer function is adequate, enough for most tracks with other people and activity around (I train for the 400m dash on a college track with football players around). It is NOT super loud and doesn't beep with any elaborate baroopbleepbleepbooop like more expensive watches do. But it's enough.

*Note, the 'regular' size version of this watch is even quieter, to the point that I do not think its useful on a real run. That's why I went with the large, even though the regular size watch is much lighter and easier to pass off as a regular watch.

1) The countdown timer can be split into 6 different segments, and it automatically loops up to 20 times, so you can go up to 120 splits (with a repeating arrangement of 6 intervals). No cheaper watch does this that I've found.
2) Countdown timer gives you a 5 second warning beep (nice for knowing if you should speed or slow down a bit or for using as the starting gun). It's actually a tiny bit awkward cuz that gives you a total of 6 beeps which throws me off sometimes cuz you naturally expect 5.
3) Large and super easy to read face.
4) Buttons are arranged so it's hard to accidentally press but easy to engage when you want it. My other watch has a problem with this.
5) The wrist strap is pretty comfortable for a running watch. It's not attached to the watch at an awkward angle the and plastic is very soft. Running watches tend to be uncomfortably for me.

Conclusion: I find this watch great if you're using it on a track with known distances. It's why I got it. Comfortable and doesn't get too much in the way even though I'm training for sprints. I use my GPS watch more for distance training as it can give you pacing out on the open roads.I don't think I would get this watch if I was only doing long road distance unless I trained specifically to time and not distance.

The good and the bad 19 Sept. 2014

A good watch for older runners in that the numerals are larger than on most watches. Not quite as good for us senior folks is that the alarms are not very loud. Now this may be caused by a weak battery but in that I just purchased the watch within the past two weeks I would hope the battery is not already failing.

I had a good year with soleus so I'll buy another more durable ... 23 Aug. 2014
By Drew - Published on
Colour Name: BlackSize: Large
Bought this at Acady sports for 60 or so a year ago. I use it on the ambulance, so I need something bright, big, durable and clear to read. It had all of that for about a year. The band is one piece as it wraps around the the watch itself. Then all of a sudden, it started braking loose and pieces started falling off. Without messing with it to avoid further damage, it seems to fall apart more and more, even when I'm not wearing it. As if the glue is weakening.

Anyway, I had a good year with soleus so I'll buy another more durable looking product. Hopefully it doesn't provide the same issue this time next year.

Nice LARGE clear display! 5 May 2015

I've only been wearing this about a week now but LOVE the large display. Very simple to set too. I haven't tried it in the shower yet though so I'm not sure how "resistant" it is to water. Also, the numbers are very clear not pixelated like some other digital watches I've had.
