Enjoyed this book, having read all the Sharpe novels it was a bit different to find the same kind of story albeit this time a gentleman trying to fit in with the rankers and not as with Sharpe the other way around. Interesting to find out about how much things had changed and yet stayed the same by the time of the Crimean War. Be warned though it take s a while to get used the French no longer being the "enemy" in this war!
