Soldier Boy is one of the most captivating books I've read in a long time. Danny Rhodes' simple, realistic English will engage audiences of all ages, and the storyline is heartfelt, harrowing, and above all REAL. The sad economic reality that faces so many young people lies behind every decision Scottie makes, and his helpless demise is out of his control.
Boys, the Army, girls, Mams, sisters, uncles, money, LIFE. This book is well worth a read!
