This is my third solar light from the SolarCentre, all of which have been fantastic.

The light arrived quickly and was easy to charge and install. The instructions could be followed with common-sense, though the lettering isn't right: The Fixing Bracket is (A), The Parasol light is (B) and U-bracket is (C).

The best thing about these lights is that they are completely mains free. I installed the light in the shed, which has no other means of lighting it. You would probably want more than this if you were working for any extended periods in your shed. The lights are really bright, perfect for when you just need to grab something from the shed at night.

I was somewhat sceptical when I ordered this light as it was my first solar powered garden light but I have to say that I am absolutely delighted with the Vortex.

I installed the light in my shed with the panel mounted on the roof, it was all very easy, and I have to say that I am amazed with how bright this light is. I have not tested the light to see how long it will stay on for continuously but having followed the instructions when I installed it, it has provided more than enough light for several hours work in the shed without fault.

If this light is typical of the quality of solar lights provided by the solar centre then I shall certainly be installing more solar lighting around my garden.

Many thanks.

The light arrived soon after it was ordered and I found it very easy (and quite satisfying) to fit the solar panel to the roof of my summerhouse and then to run the cable to the inside of the building and connect it to the light which fitted easily to the upper wall. A longer cable (and an extension is available) would have allowed the light to be put on the quite high ceiling. I left it to charge for a week or two but it did not work then. I phoned the lady at the company for advice and she suggested taking the back off the light to check the batteries were in place. I tried to do this but it was impossible to get at the screws. Suddenly however the light began working and has been faultless since (about 6 months now). It is bright enough to light the whole small building and you can read by it easily. It seems still to be charging even in the dull Scottish November light. I am pleased with it and would have given 5 stars if I hadn't had the little (unexplained) problem at the beginning.

I don't have a shed so I couldn't test that function, but as a parasol light it's great. It has a removable centre which allows the light to slide up the pole. It provides more than enough light to see your beer on the garden table.
Great product, perfect for what I need it for.

I have found this light very useful. I have one in a very dark cupboard under the stairs and one in the garden shed. Both provide very adequate light and hold their charge well. I also take them on holiday, marvellous if you have power cuts or if like us you are visiting game parks in Africa where they can switch the generator off at 22.00 leaving you in the dark for the rest of the night. We also find that if you sit them over the neck of a bottle of water, lights pointing down, they glow through the water and make a wonderful table light for eating al fresco. So not just a shed light but a very adaptable and lightweight light to carry around for other uses.

Verified Purchase
Having annexed the teenagers' weight training out to the shed I was dreading having to get electricity out there. This little gem was much cheaper than the cable would have been !! The instructions are very simple but you do need to watch where the sun hits for the majority of the day, because that's where you need to put the solar panel. Attempting to put the solar panel where its easy or looks neater, but out of sunlight, will reduce its battery charging greatly. In all but the most overcast days it has provided very adequate light for at least couple of hours each day.

A good friend of mine goes to India once a year and works with small villages away from the cities that have no electricity and at night their small homes are completley dark. I bought five of the "Vortex Solar Shed Lights" for her to take with her. They worked amazingly well, the five recipients were so grateful.
They lasted most all night as they were able to adjust the LED output light that was charged during the day. They were also very simple to install and I would definitely recommend them for use in any outbuilding where electricity is not readily available.

An excellent purchase. Does just what it claims to - provides plenty of light in my shed after a good dose of sunshine and has not yet run out or gone dim, even after being switched on for four hours.
Only got one caveat - the ball and socket joint at the base of the solar panel, which is perfect for turning the panel any which way, is slightly on the loose side, so after strong wind, the panel does tend to flop over.

Have bought several products from the Solar Centre over a number of years - all been well worth the money.
