I was given one of these when I was a child and remember the sense of wonder and joy when bright sunlight made it spin round. The distinctive over-speed "tink tink" sound these make in very strong light is the sound of summer for me. I bought this one for my daughter as she's around the right age to appreciate the science behind it and still enjoy the object. It's a beautiful piece of glass work and a lovely thing to have on a desk. I just hope we actually get some sunshine so she can enjoy it.

does the job but its a little too expensive for what it is, i.e. my previous item was Brocken. Only paid £8.00 in Bristol last year. Unfortunately too far for me at this time

Really good product, I got it for a friends birthday, and was glad to see that it arrived in perfect condition. It was well wrapped, a must for such a fragile product.
Couldn't have asked for more...

Serves no practical purpose except indicating that the sun is shining but as it replaces the one I had for yonks but got broken recently I am happy. My life is complete and I can move on. Thank you.

Smaller than I imagined, about the size of an old fashioned light bulb. Nice looking item and good talking point. The vanes of the mill are attached to a glass tube which rests on the point of a long metallic needle inside the bulb. It therefore has to be rested on a flat surface otherwise it knocks and wobbles as it rotates. It needs direct bright sunlight to work but when it goes it really spins pretty fast.

I had been looking at it for months, and finally decided to buy one and I absolutely love it. I keep it on my window sill, so when I wake up I know if its a sunny day or not because I can hear the radiometer turning if its a nice day.
Some people may think it's novelty but I've had it for almost 4 months and I still love to watch it.

I'm quite amazed having seen the documentaries and news items about parcels being thrown about by idiots - that - my radiometer arrived in one piece here in the UK. Its German reseller / manufacturer had strapped a bright red fragile statement around the packaging and thankfully our postman is a decent guy. I still was amazed that the dozens of pairs of hands in-between had coincided to do their job so well. The yellow coloured product box on opening the packaging was pristine. Perhaps this one had been handled by robots.

On removing it from the box - the glass was also spotless and no metallic flakes had fallen off as another reviewer had found. Maybe that one was from a bad batch, only time will tell.

It's been sitting on the windowsill of my office in-between my chilli pepper plants for a couple of weeks now. Mid morning it goes absolutely mental as the office window faces directly south, which is perfect as it matches my workflow at that time of day :)

I would imagine that one of these would also look great in a western facing window whilst the sun sets of a crispy winter afternoon.

For the money it would make a cracking xmas present - just make sure to be able to situate it somewhere the cats won't disturb!

Brilliant piece of kit. Illustrates the power of light simply. Just expose it to sunlight and off it goes. Looks really good.
