Format:Audio CD
When this was originally released in the spring of 1999, the limited edition of 20,000 CDs sold out in the first week. It's not hard to hear why, this is Peter Green and the early line-up of Splinter Group (with Neil Murray) really getting into top gear and motoring.

Superior to 1997's self-titled live album this 2CD set includes the entire show, with some old Mayal/Mac classics such as Black Magic Woman (excellent), Rattlesnake Snake (even better) and Supernatural (Green at his very best) and some blues standards. There's even a semi acoustic set in the middle for some Robert Johnson songs.

What strikes the listener is that everybody is playing enthusiastically, the intimate venue meant that everybody had to play more quiet than usual. The recording is truly top notch, with minimal production applied (a godsend in this increasingly fake electronic age).

Recommended for blues fans, Green fans and anybody who appreciates a good song and good musicianship!

Blues with style 28 Jan 2008
Format:Audio CD
I LOVE this album!

I'd never heard of Peter Green (I hear some groan!) until watching the Splinter Group in concert on satellite TV. As a blues fan, I liked what I'd heard and bought this album.

That was around a month ago and its hardly stopped being played. I absolutely love it. You've heard of the phrase 'cool jazz'? Then this album is cool blues. This is blues for a dinner party or blues for being alone with a glass of wine.

Listen, and weep. 13 Sep 2007
Format:Audio CD
Weep, because of the fact he was back from the dead, and gave it his best shot here. Weep because he is not really 'there', when compared to the fire of the 3 Boston CDs. and weep 'cos he's gone off somewhere again and the Splinter Group are no more - apparently.
