Product Description
Continue using your phone (cordless or wired) for landline calls as you normally do. But when you want to make a Skype call, pick up your phone and press * (star) to switch to Skype calling mode. Then you can either dial a SkypeOut call to any phone number, or dial a Skype contact, all from your phone's keypad. Your phone rings for both landline and Skype calls: just pick up the phone and start talking! Use any standard telephone for Skype and landline calls. The landline connection is optional, so you can also use your regular or cordless phone as a dedicated Skype phone if you prefer.

I was delighted with this initially but after my computer started crashing (Windows 7 Ultimate), I discovered the SkypeMate software has a memory leak. After some research on the internet, I found this is happening to lots of people. Why can't the manufacturers do something about this? You can't rely on a product like this. It's true that it's cheap and the hardware seems well put together but what use is that if the supplied software is rubbish? Come on ...

This is a great piece of kit, once you get it installed. As other people have said, the instruction manual leaves a lot to be desired.
Here are my installation suggestions. I have Windows XP and Skype 4.
First install Skype, if you haven't already got it and check it is working.
Next connect the phone and landline to the Sogatel Adapter and then connect the Adapter to your USB. When asked allow Windows to automatically configure the Adaptor.
Now go to the Download section of the Sogatel Website and download, install, and run Skypemate. When Skype asks click to allow Sypemate to use it.
Your phone should now work with both landline and Skype.
It is very important that you don't install Skypemate until after Windows has configured the Adapter otherwise you will have problems.
The Speedial system described in the Instruction manual as the way to contact other PC users is not available in Skype 4. However, it is still possible to initiate the call from your PC and then have the conversation via the phone.
I have seen suggestions that reverting to Skype 3.8 solves this problem, but I have not tried it.
Skype calls are only available when your PC is on, however, the landline continues to work normally even when the Adapter is off.
Overall I am very pleased and would have given the product 5 stars if the instruction manual had been up to scratch.

The box works as advertised. It allows integration of Skype into the landline. Skype calls come into our cordless phone. The only glitch was in setup. The manual was a single page. The CD non existent. The manual had a URL to a website. The website had the driver and a pdf manual, but was named differently from the box. Thus, hard to find. The manual was also out of date regards Skype so the setup with skype took a bit more work.
Once working, the device is flawless. I am very happy with the device and price. Shipping was blindingly fast. So, all told 4 of 5 with only 1 mark off for installation.
