This book has proved invaluable to me and my organisation. It provides not only clear guidelines for the successful implementation of inspection techniques, but provides substantial evidence for where inspection should and should NOT be used. Although the title of the book is 'Software Inspection', the methods described are equally applicable to any large-scale project in any industry; and while it may initially appear that inspection is a time-consuming and onerous task, Gilb's insightful text makes clear exactly how valuable it is.

If you value completing your projects on time, and with a minimum of errors, then you could do far worse than to give inspection a try.

5.0 out of 5 stars Comprehensive and readable text on Inspections 22 July 1998
By A Customer
Format:Paperback
I wholeheartedly recommend this text to anyone who want to get a thorough introduction to the topic of Software Inspection. I also recommend it to those who are already practicing Inspections or even old-fashioned "Walkthroughs" or "Peer Reviews".

Everyone can learn from this book. Indeed, this is book we use when teaching Inspection at Odegard Labs.

5.0 out of 5 stars has supporting numbers 10 Aug 2005
By Eddy Parkinson - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
I was impressed by this book, it ranks up there with Code Complete and Mythical Man Month.

Two very minor grumbles, the repetition and occasional over trivial advice, but don't let that put you off.

The advice is aimed at those willing to make a long term investment in improving software quality.

It is easy to read and is full of supporting numbers and real case studies.

3.0 out of 5 stars A bit dry... 1 Sep 2007
By Bruce Armstrong - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
Compared to "Peer Reviews in Software: A Practical Guide" or "Best Kept Secrets of Code Review", this one was a bit dry. The others were a good read and I would recommend them over this title.
