Book Description

11 Sep 2010
Having flirted with the Unified Modeling Language for over a decade, in the 'Visual Studio 2010 Ultimate Edition' Microsoft has integrated UML visual modeling features directly in the IDE - making it a truly Integrated Development Environment. This book explores the new UML capabilities both from the analyst's top-down conceptual modeling perspective and from the developer's code-centric visualisation perspective. Those of you for whom the 'Ultimate Edition' is just out of reach will discover how you can benefit from the legacy Visio UML integration and the architectural modeling capabilities of the other Visual Studio 2010 editions. You can find additional resources on the companion web site for this book at www.lotontech.com/visualmodeling

4.0 out of 5 stars A well structured book, good for reference 17 Nov 2011
By Leandros Papadopoulos - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
I am a beginner in UML. The book is not for beginners, but it does a good job in introducing beginners to use UML in VS2010 ultimate. It does not teach UML, it teaches how UML diagrams are created from Visual Studio. The author suggests some specific books for UML learning.

The author covers the implementation of UML by Visual Studio in a rather synoptic fashion and in several occasions it asks the reader to read MSDN's web pages (for which the links are provided in relevant book's chapters). I think that the reader has to read these MSDN's links (from the web) in order to be able to understand the book's examples.

The author provides samples of a test case which is quite simple but it is sufficient for accomplishing its purpose.
