Product Description

Synopsis

'SOFT TARGET' is a chilling fictional story that takes the reader inside the hearts and minds of a violent terrorist cell. Based around the Terrorist Task Force the story is a rollercoaster ride of frighteningly real events across America and the UK. The story is the first of three that follow the lead agent John Tankersley, AKA, Tank. The plot has been described as worryingly good. Controversy and violence are never far away when Tank and the Task Force are around.

From the Author

Hi I am the Author Conrad Jones, thank you for looking at my title Soft Target. There has been some comments made about the grammer and typo`s in the manuscript, which I can only apologise for as you have recieved uncorrected first editions of the book !!! I am reliably informed that they have been resolved in later editions however there are still some stocks of the Proofs lurking about in warehouses all over the place. I suppose on the bright side they will be worth more than the bog standard perfected scripts one day !! Any way I hope you enjoy the story and then read part two which should be out soon with no typo`s and perfect grammer....ps there is no E in Author!thanks again for your time...Conrad

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic story, 29 May 2009

I don't write reviews, so it is a testament to this book's quality that I feel compelled to share my feelings. I have now read all three of the soft target trilogy. It is not just a page turner as I have rushed to buy the second book as soon as I finished the first and so on until the third. The action is fast pace with every chapter ending with a cliff hanger. And if you think the next chapter will answer your questions think again as it is more likely to throw even more questions until all comes together in the last few chapters. The characters are likeable and realistic as is the plot. The author also has the ability to make you empathise with the villains as he explains what happened in their past to make them the person they are now. not since the Bourne trilogy have I been so enthralled in a story. Thank you Conrad and keep writing those books. Currently reading 18th brigade by the same author and so far, it lives up to the previous three books.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good starter for five, 30 April 2008

A new author, a current terror topic and a fast-moving storyline. As a debut novel, the author has managed to create a scenario, mainly set in the UK which conveys to the reader just how easy it would appear to be to put in place a plan to hit 'soft targets' to cause maximum injury to innocent people.

That his team of anti-terrorist members deals with these so-called 'freedom fighters' in as harsh a way as possible seems a reasonable and appropriate response! The body count is enormous and perhaps glossed over a little too easily but, nontheless, I enjoyed the book and hope that the author can develop his characters as we progress through the next stories he has lined up for us.

I believe there are to be three books featuring this elite team. I look forward to the next.

I couldn't in all honesty knock off a star for the terrible proof-reading within the book but it does rankle when you're trying to follow the story and basic editing mistakes crop up. I did, at first, think I'd bought an uncorrected proof but apparently not!

5.0 out of 5 stars Soft Target,hard reality, 23 Jul 2008
By E. Hughes (UK) - See all my reviews

A fascinating, highly addictive first novel from this brilliant new author. It's intelligently written without being in any way highbrow,Conrad Jones certainly knows his subject and combines historical fact with insight and empathy.

The subject matter has already been explained in earlier reviews, what really comes across in this amazing novel is the total possibility of this being a prediction for the not so distant future, nothing about it is far fetched. It's written in a fast pacy manner which will have you speed reading in no time as you rush to see what the next chapter brings.

Totally unputdownable.
