The Sofrito collective hold regular club nights playing 'Tropical' records for a clubbing audience. This can mean African, Carribean, South American music with a dance orientated groove. They also release some fine re-edits and remixes on vinyl which are worth checking out. In this collection we're straight to the source as they pick some great dancefloor movers from Cumbia, old school Soca, African grooves and more. Great if you like Soundway and Analog Africa releases. Excellent, more of the some please!

Hot dancefloor fillers of an afro carribean pedigree. 19 Jan 2011
By Scott McWade - Published on Amazon.com

Excellent compilation from a dj collective operating "Sofrito" parties in East London beginning in in 2005. The 15 tracks selected flow effortlessly and are dancefloor favorites, this is what the party-goers responded to. Mid-70s-80s beats blown in from locales such as Nigeria, Columbia, Ghana, Guadaloupe, Congo, French Guyana, Benin & Trinadad. Move the coffee table, mix up some rum runners and let it flow. Hopefully we'll see some additional editions.

Hold my Margarita, Let's Salsa! 20 Aug 2011

From the western coast of Belize to the deep Brazilian forest, this album shines as one of Strut Records gem releases. This particular album is a massive underground hit in the hipster scene of eastern London. Sit back and groove or party all night, great album!
