'a hilarious, common sense intervention that might just save you from drowning, boredom, frostbite and friction burns.' (DAILY RECORD )

Product Description

For anyone who is fed up of being told what to do with their time, or made to feel inferior because they don't want to fly half way round the planet on the off chance that a dolphin might swim somewhere their vicinity, this is the perfect book. A slacker's bible, it is the anti-list book in a world where we are surrounded with too many lists - '101 Things to Buy', '50 Things to do in Keighley' - offering us all too many very avoidable treats. Who has the time to read all these lists, let alone follow up on the suggestions? Is it really such a good idea to touch a tiger? All these ludicrous suggestions should be treated with the contempt they deserve. In short, this is a very funny rallying call for common sense and dignified indolence rather than wasteful over-activity. Now comes the final and best list book of all time, easily trumping those books with 100 or 101 things to do, as Life's Too Short comes up with the top 103 things not to do. You know it makes sense.

The irony isnt lost on me, and it should'nt be lost on anyone else, either.

Sam Jordison's book is a well deserved mockery of books that are a list of what to do, and is in itself a well written list. Some of the entries are so funny, you're left thinking "this guy says EXACTLY what i feel about this". He's covered most bases, from cars, to stonehenge, to climbing everest..you name it. And its all in a mock hectoring tone, which just adds to the hilarity factor.

Absolutely recommended.

This is the original and MUCH MUCH funnier book lampooning lists of things to do before you die. Do not confuse with Richard Wilson's insipid, middle-aged dad humour effort along similar lines called "can't be arsed".

this book gives you the facts behind the glamorous ideas, so it is informative as well as hugely funny and makes you think you are better off staying at home. a book written for the cautious not the adventurous. It is written in a very readable style, and l want to read bits aloud to anyone who will or won't listen. great for journeys, small enough to put in your pocket. I have read several "things not to do" twice. great gift for retirement present.
