This book is a padded out version of a free supplement given out by Knitting magazine. The original supplement had 7 sock patterns for adults inside, whilst this one has a selection for children and babies added.
I liked the simplicity of the patterns I could see in the pictures - felted chunky knits and boot and clog socks knitted in DK yarn - good to knit up quickly and easily and mindlessly, I thought. Not at all! The reality turns out to be full of errors - basic typos and more serious omissions abound in the patterns. I am an experienced knitter but even I couldn't make the sideways knit 'baby pods' come out looking as it should. An example: if you've cast on 15st you cannot by any stretch of the imagination increase two at a time to give 22st. I knit the moss stitch shoesocks easily enough - but where's the instructions for a second? If you are a beginner it would be all too easy to produce two right shoes and be very disappointed. It's probably down to bad editing, but really - not good enough!
Save your money and buy another book - there are plenty better out there.
