If you are expecting a baby, or looking to buy a gift for a new baby, you really can't go wrong with sock-ons...there is literally no point in putting socks on a baby without a pair of these! It was unfortunate for me that I didn't discover them until my daughter was around 5 months old. She was born in winter and had to live in tights because I couldn't find a way to get all the dinky, adorable little socks she had been bought to stay on her feet. It's amazing how such a seemingly immobile little person can wiggle their way out of a pair of socks, but they can't shift them if they have sock-ons! They work a bit like a sports bandage/anti-DVT stockings, and you do have to be careful that you buy the right size/buy the next size up when required otherwise they can dig in, but they really are great. You can buy 2 sizes in a wide choice of colours and they are very affordable. Also, if baby gets them covered in food they can be washed with a bar of soap, rinsed in the sink and air-dried good as new in an hour.
My only complaint is that they haven't yet brought out a see-through version...my daughter had some lovely patterned socks that I couldn't show off because the sock-ons aren't transparent, but that really is splitting hairs.
