I can't emphasise it enough, this book is apalling. I was bought it as a present and at first was really excited about it: there's some nice sock patterns in the back and two step by step socks guides for beginners with lots of photos. what's not to like? Unfortunatley as soon as I started knitting one of the patterns it became apparent how rubbish this book is. The charts for the sizes are very unclear, it seems they have only been partially translated and it is hard to tell what they are referring to, and the measurments frequently and inaccurately change between metric and imperial, eg. 9" doesn't equal 29.5 cm. The photgraphs are inconsistant also, in a step by step guide you'd expect the photos to be connected but they are unrelated. This is most clear when it comes to knitting toes and each photo shows a diiferent kind of toe at a various stage. There also appear to be steps missing out throughout the book, again most noticeable with the toe chapter where it mentions decrease rows but doesn't say how many, tells you to decrease until you have a certain number of stitches, but the next step requires you to have considerably less. It's almost as if the authors got bored of writing half way through so didn't bother to finish the book accurately. I'm an experienced sock knitter yet this book has left me completely befuddled. There are books so much better out there, so just don't bother with this one.
