Product Description

Synopsis

A sociology textbook for the 1997 AEB A Level syllabus, this text offers complete coverage of all AS and A Level topic areas for examination by the AEB board in 1998, including chapters on culture and identity, and world sociology. It features a carefully constructed introduction aimed at encouraging students to questions the hows and whys of studying sociology and aims to generate an appreciation of the subject's engagement with the wider social and political issues of today. While each chapter comprehensively covers one topic at time, the themes of age, class, gender and ethnicity are not compartmentalized, but interwoven within the chapters. In this way students are made aware of the more complex interaction that exists between different areas of study. The text includes such features as: practical exercises, research activities, discussion ideas, project suggestions, and structured examination questions.

I purchased this book last year when I was studying for my A level. I found this book very easy to read and covered the whole syllabus for AEB Sociology. I am now at university studying psychology and sociology and it is still useful for introductory modules. Definately worth investing in as it is clearly written and very easy to understand. The layout of this book is not as crammed as the other recommended textbook for A level (you know which one I mean) and you don't get sore eyes reading this. I would definately recommend this book to A level students and those doing introductory modules on sociology at undergraduate level.
