The seventh edition of this indispensable resource continues from strength to strength to provide a vibrant, engaging and authoritative introduction to sociology. Revised and updated throughout, it provides a commanding overview of recent global developments and new ideas in sociology. Classic debates are also given careful coverage, with even the most complex ideas explained in an engaging way. Anthony Giddens' 'Sociology' was first published in 1989 and this 1232-page, 7th edition(2013) is probably the best yet. Clearly written and extensively revised with new material on the global financial crisis, austerity riots and the Arab Spring, this intellectually stimulating, comprehensive and jargon-free introduction to sociology is an ideal guide for A-level students, undergraduates and the general reader who wishes to make sense of our complex social world.

5.0 out of 5 stars Terrific primer on Sociology 2 May 2014
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
A terrific all-round primer in Sociology, co-written by one of Britain's foremost living sociological thinkers. It covers everything, as well as acknowledging what still may yet be covered by the epithet "Sociology".
Just don't try to read it on the tube! (It is vast!)
