A terrific all-round primer in Sociology, co-written by one of Britain's foremost living sociological thinkers. It covers everything, as well as acknowledging what still may yet be covered by the epithet "Sociology".
Just don't try to read it on the tube! (It is vast!)

Anthony Giddens' 'Sociology' was first published in 1989 and this 1232-page, 7th edition(2013) is probably the best yet.
Clearly written and extensively revised with new material on the global financial crisis, austerity riots and the Arab Spring, this intellectually stimulating, comprehensive and jargon-free introduction to sociology is an ideal guide for A-level students, undergraduates and the general reader who wishes to make sense of our complex social world.

The book is not very good, because the information is very general - I think it is too basic for my liking, does not cite studies most of the time, and does not hold any new information in the sense that most critically thinking adults will already know it. However, some people like it, maybe it depends on the person's experience. The price is very cheap though, and postage was quick. Don't have any complaints from the seller, just the book itself.
