Product Description

Product Description

The ideal follow-on from the highly popular Sociology for AS-level, this stimulating textbook has been written by practicing teachers and examiners with the specific needs of A2 students in mind. The book is divided into seven units: Religion; Power, politics and protest; Social policy and welfare; World sociology; Theory and methods; Crime and deviance; and Stratification and social differences. Each unit is divided into a number of topics, organized in a consistent and easy-to-follow format. Each topic contains text to develop knowledge, but also a variety of interactive features, including activities to prepare students for synoptic assessment and help them apply theory.

2.0 out of 5 stars Read before buying, 6 Jun 2009

(REAL NAME)
I bought this book to use while I was studying Sociology A2 at college with the OCR exam board. Like everybody, I was studying the synoptic paper and with it I studied Education as my unit for Power and Control.

I found this book extremely limited and the worst part was that it did not contain the vast majority of studies and theories that I was being taught. Obviously since I was only studying education I cannot comment on the other chapters in the book, but if you are studying education I would be more inclined to point you in the direction of 'Sociology in Focus'.

I hope this helps whoever reads it to avoid my mistake!
