"This is an excellent text. It is well-written, comprehensive, and authoritative. It will undoubtedly establish itself as the textbook of choice for introductory research methods courses in sociology and other social sciences. It contains enough substance and detail to be a continuing guide for students following more advanced courses... It hits the right balance of substance, authority and ease of access, and I am sure that it will be a great success"

This is a remarkably interesting, attractive and accessible text on research methods. I'm impressed with Bryman's ability to move easily from quantitative to qualitative methods, as well as his efforts to move beyond that divide. The book not only has all the basic information, but lots of interesting tidbits in the text and numerous boxes. (
