Format: Hardcover
Hogg and Vaughan offer a comprehensive coverage of the classical social psychology literature in a far less "noddy" way than many (particularly American) texts. However, the material is nevertheless presented in a very reader-friendly fashion and experimental evidence is usually, though not always, evaluated rather than taken at face value. The repeated cropping up of self-categorisation theory is an aspect which I personally dislike and I found it difficult to really get to grips with this theory since aspects crucial to understanding it seem to be spread throughout the book. Links between chapters are made explicit, however, aiding general understanding. I'm looking forward to reading the next edition!
