4.0 out of 5 stars Essential reading for social care students, 3 Jan 2002
By A Customer
As a social care student, I would highly recommend this book to anyone looking at social policy for either study or personal interest. It clearly sets out the beginnings of social policy and its development over the past 50years. It also states historical development such as the Poor Laws and the development of health care Acts. It is an easy to read format and includes self assessment which is very useful. This book is suitable for all whether looking at social policy for the first time, or as one with social policy knowledge.

5.0 out of 5 stars Social policy and Welfare, 27 Nov 2001
By A Customer
This text book is a must for all AS Social Policy students and teachers alike. It covers all aspects of the course in a comprehensive and reader friendly way. The chapters clearly relate to the Edexcel specification and include summaries and reviews. The book is up to date and includes references to new labour and to concepts like the Third Way. I am a teacher of social policy and have advised all my students to purchase this book. I feel this book would be very useful for people studying foundation courses in social policy.

This book is a good source of information,on the subject of politics that relates to social policy and how it benefits the health service. I would strongly recomend anyone who is doing the Access to Health course to buy this book, as it as helped me a lot with my studies and is very interesting.
