About the Author
GEOFF PAYNE is Professor Emeritus of Sociology at the University of Plymouth, UK. He is the author of many books and has extensive teaching and external examining experience. He has twice been Chair of the British Sociological Association and in 2003 was appointed Visiting Professor of Sociology at Glasgow Caledonian University.

Well written and informative book, an excellent starting point for all those studying or interested in social divisions and difference.

A good basic text book. Lots of useful information as a starting point for further and deeper study on a particular subject. If you are a Social Work student don't expect to be able to answer an assignment with this book but it will give you a sound base to start.
