Product Description

From the Back Cover

Take your game to the next level with the revolutionary program used by pro soccer teams worldwide

The soccer player in full flight, maneuvering, turning and twisting, dribbling, swerving, leaping into the air, holding the position for a fraction of a second then heading a cross, with perfect timing, into the goal. You think only the genetically gifted can perform such powerful and gravity-defying moves. Now thanks to soccer training expert Alan Pearson, you, too, can execute these incredible feats on the soccer field.

A must-have for all players of this fast-paced sport, Soccer Fitness presents a cutting-edge program to help you develop multidirectional, explosive speed and gain an advantage in a game where feet and inches can make all the difference between winning and losing. Professional and national teams all over the world have used Pearson's program with successful results and now you can, too. Here you will find:

  • More than 100 drills for individual or team practice
  • Soccer-specific running, flexibility, and strength exercises (plyometrics)
  • Techniques to improve your eye, hand, and foot coordination
  • Warm-up and cool-down exercises . . . and more

Whether you are young or old, professional or amateur, Soccer Fitness will help turn you into the explosive playmaker on the field that other players and coaches count on when the game is on the line.

Firstly - if you own "Speed, Agility & Quickness for Soccer: SAQ Soccer" by the same author - DO NOT BUY THIS BOOK. They have simply changed the title and the book cover, the work is identical.
However, this is a well written, scientifically tested coaching method used at a lot of professional clubs. These drills and the courses you can go on in support of these drills are very good at honing the "form" of the aspiring professional athlete.
Bringing in these exercises at a lower level should be considered carefully, and your own coaching methodology is important. Having used them myself, I have found from time to time with certain of the exercises, boredom can creep in, and if the trainee does not follow the instructions fully, these can reinforce bad habits instead of introducing correct habits.
Although useful, and something to have up your sleeve, there may be better uses of time when training at an amateur level.

This book is a recover of SAQ For Soccer, by the same author. It is a fantastic resource in football fitness training. This version is I assume aimed at the US market, and cheaper than SAQ for Soccer.
