Bloc Party are an English rock band, composed of Kele Okereke (lead vocals, rhythm guitar), Russell Lissack (lead guitar), Gordon Moakes (bass guitar, synths, backing vocals, glockenspiel), and Matt Tong (drums, backing vocals). Their brand of music is said to have been drawn from such bands as Mogwai, The Cure, Joy Division, Sonic Youth, and in their more recent work, Radiohead.
Bloc Party can be proud of their break through single from the debut album "Silent Alarm", although devoted fans may question why it was this single, and not "She's Hearing Voices" or "Helicopter" that spun the band into the general publics view. Still, "So Here We Are" is worthy of praise and proves once and for all that rock/indie/alternative fans do not have to rest all their weight on smackheads and pretenders.
This is the first single off Bloc Party's album, Silent Alarm. With Kele's ringing guitar riff, it has everything a good single needs. The two b-sides, Positive Tension and Helicopter, are pretty good as well. But it the main song needs a better drum line. Overall good.
