I enjoy walking,cycling,fell running and climbing. When participating in these sports I like to use the best equipment that my budget can afford. This is especially true in areas of the UK that carry higher risks. Glencoe and the Cairngorms of Scotland in winter can be extremely hostile environments, especially in winter, and being well prepared is essential. Snowdonia is another such area. I have experience in the Alps but these places close to home can be just as lethal if not more so on occasions. People tragically die out there every year, sometimes through being ill prepared. Your own risk assessment is essential, which brings me to Harveys maps. They are aimed at a niche market of highly discerning outdoors people like myself who want the very best. Especially in heavily contoured areas they are a godsend. The contour lines being easier to follow than standard maps. When the mind and body are numbed with cold this is a huge help. I am a big fan of O/S but in these particularly rugged areas Harvey's has them beat. Maps are a pleasure and I am a saddo who can read a map with as much pleasure as a good book. Harveys are maps you can get a lot of pleasure from no matter what the activity or time of year. Whatever activity you are planning in Snowdonia this map is the best available for this area. Harveys maps may seem a little expensive but on essential items like maps you dont want to skimp to save the odd pound. Stay safe out there!
