A Kid's Review
Format:Paperback
After reading Barkbelly when I was six,I loved it so much I decided to read the sequel, Snowbone.

Snowbone is about a wooden girl, who comes from the Island of Ashenpeake, who sets out on a mission to free her kind from slavery. The plot is exciting and amazing; it is really a page-turner!

I liked this book for so many reasons especially the description. I feel like I am really there watching it all happen!
Cat Weatherill has an amazing imagination. The names and places in the book are interesting and unusual. The characters in this book are good too: Fierce Snowbone, wise Figgis, and Evil Tarn are just some of them.
And the little map at the front of the book is really useful when following the story!

I think this book deserves a five star rating.
It couldn't be better.

Snowbone is the sequel to Barkbelly, Snowbone, one of the characters from Barkbelly becomes a fierce warrior, determined to fight for her people's freedom. With Figgis, Blackeye and her gang of tiddlins marching beside her, Snowbone hunts for the slave traders. But the slavers won't give in without a fight, areal page turner - will Snowbone live to tell the tale?

This book is a testament to the imagination. A children's novel that will appeal to adults, Cat Weatherill's sequel to Barkbelly broaches issues of slavery, love and death while maintaining a magical charm. The book is filled with action... made all the more powerful by a spiritual undercurrent and moments of intense lyrical beauty. As the story progresses Snowbone grows in maturity, gaining wisdom and knowledge through her experiences.

A thrilling book with beautiful language.
