Snow White, based on Grimm s original fairytale, takes the audience from the death of Snow White s mother in a dramatic snow storm, through to the first meeting of an engaging seven year old Snow White and her ultimate transformation into the fairest of the land that sends the Queen into a rage of revenge. Accompanied by her trusting seven dwarfs, a smattering of twinkling snowflakes and a birthday scene of dancing cupcakes makes this ballet charming, funny and full of magic and mystery.
With a lively, characterful score by Richard Norriss, this year's story was Snow White, in choreography by Olivia Pickford that spread chances throughout the age range, with flair, wit and drama. Ballroom scenes; snowflakes, birds, dancing cupcakes, seven delightful dwarfs, an appealing Snow White in Edwina Booth-Clibborn, and arrogant evil Queen from Charlotte Goffin, an effectively preening Jester (Jordan Smith), a classically elegant Prince (Rex Wheeler). What always impresses me is how successfully these many young artists blend together with a real sense of company. This must be high among the benefits they derive from an exceptional experience. --David Dougill, The Sunday Times
