5.0 out of 5 stars Another intriguing look into the 12 Kingdoms, 26 May 2009
By Ruth Masse (Essex, England) - See all my reviews
The main fairy story in the book is that of the snow queen. The queen kidnaps a young boy, puts a sliver of ice in his heart and his siser / lover comes to rescue him. Here the snow queen is part of the fairy godmother network i.e. a good guy. The first half concentrates on the traditional tale, but the main part of the story is the attempt to stop of an evil witch who is being forced by Tradition to take on the Snow Queen role for real. There are hints of other fairy stories in here as well but I'm not very conversant with them. However it was a very entertaining read, one that I will go back to time and again especially when it gets cold and snowy outside.

4.0 out of 5 stars The snow queen, 19 Mar 2009
By Kate S (Yorkshire, UK) - See all my reviews
An excellent continuation of the series. I really liked the use of Finnish mythology (from the Kalevale) which in my opinion is not as widely known as it should be.
