Book Description

In the parched, arid wastes of this far-flung Polity world, Snow is being hunted. With a prize on his head

and his life in danger, trust is a luxury he can’t afford. Hirald, pale and deadly in the blistering heat, is an

ambiguous presence. But who is she? What does she want from him?

Mankind has sought Snow’s secret for thousands of years, and blood will flow in the desert before it’s revealed.

This short tale is compelling, brutal and lingers long after the final word:

the perfect introduction to Neal Asher’s Polity universe fiction.

Praise for Neal Asher

‘Skillfully combines graphic action and sensitive characterisation’ GUARDIAN

‘This is top-notch stuff from an author well and truly at the top of his game’

More About the Author

Neal Asher lives sometimes in England, sometimes in Crete and mostly at a keyboard. Having over eighteen books published he has been accused of overproduction (despite spending far too much time ranting on his blog, cycling off fat, and drinking too much wine) but doesn't intend to slow down just yet.

4.0 out of 5 stars Short & Sweet 6 Sept. 2012

Classic Asher style made this a rip roaring ride from beginning to end. A must for completists, fans will identify with the plot and characters from the first paragraph whilst even those unfamiliar with Neal's work will enjoy the pure exhuberance of the journey. Familiarity with the genre means the story feels somewhat workmanlike and unoriginal but for the newcomer, curiosity about Asher's universe will undoubtedly be piqued.

5.0 out of 5 stars short and so very sweet. 27 May 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I've read many of this authors novels set in the Polity and enjoyed them immensely. This short story was no exception.

It tells the story of the character, Snow, and his life on a desert world.

Unusually for a Neal Asher book, the ending it's genuinely happy, it could even be called a love story.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Short Read 13 July 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Great short story. The anti-hero main character is well drawn and the story is imaginative and set in a future universe which is alien but believable. Would like to read more about this character and follow the storyline back to earth.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another Asher gem 25 May 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I love Neal Asher's books and this one I had missed somehow. A good read with well developed characters the only 'flaw' being it is too short!! If you don't know the author this is an excellent 1st read.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice Short Story 4 Mar. 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I have read most of the Polty books, and this is a nice short story about a section of the Universe. Bits of it kept me guessing up to the end, and It made me want to follow the characters more.

I am a fan but not of short stories but this was very good. You just had to stay with the story all the time. I was a very good side story to the Neal Asher Polity world which I already love.
