If forced to describe Alaskan heavy metal unit 36 Crazyfists in just a single word, you might want to go with persistent.

Since forming 16 years ago, the band’s released four records through three different labels, lost members to everything from the usual band in-fighting to fatal car crashes, and they’ve shared the road with the likes of Alice in Chains, Atreyu, Killswitch ... 5.0 out of 5 stars 36CF TURN UP THE HEAT WITH 2ND ALBUM!!!!! 7 Mar 2004
Format:Audio CD
All i can say is WOW! 36 Crazy Fists have raised the bar with this album! Their debut "Bitterness the Star" was a brutal yet beautiful example of how heavy, agressive and yet catchy a metal album can be. 2nd effort "A Snow Capped Romance" takes everything that made Bitterness great and hones it to perfection.
The album crashes in with "At the end of August" the first single, a crunchy upbeat metal number that sets the tone for the rest of the album. I was going to choose other stand out tracks but i just cant do it. Every track on this album fits perfectly and is brilliantly written and executed. There is none of the samey-ness that there was with the first album. Every track is distinctive in its own way and are certainly all dynamic and exciting.
Sound: Screams and a unique singing voice combined with fat metal basslines and crunchy, dynamic guitar and upbeat drumming. The production on this album is brilliant with every instrument being clear and precise. Brock's singing/screaming is never overpowering or understated.
Similar artists: If you like any kind of metallic hardcore such as Glassjaw, Poison the well, modern metal such as Deftones and Chimaira, post-hardcore such as Funeral FAF & Hurt Process, harcore such as Remembering Never & Norma Jean then buy this album!
There really is something to keep everyone happy on this album, its massivly heavy at points, upbeat, catchy, screamy, melodic and continues driving at a juggernaut pace until it finishes and you hit that play button again!
OK, i've managed to pick out a couple of tracks.

5.0 out of 5 stars My thoughts on my favourite album 18 Dec 2004
Format:Audio CD
Whenver I get a CD it usually takes me a while to get into it, maybe listening to it quite a few times before I fully appreciate the songs. So when I first got this I played it through and thought it was just okay, but then after a few more listens, and over the next 2 weeks after I got it I began to love it so much! Its now been quite some months since it came out (was it may or something) and I still love it and listen to it all the time. It is a superb alubm, every song is jam packed with amazing uber-goodness! A lot of people are mentioning "bloodwork" in their reviews, and although it is a super song, its probably my least favourite on the album, and its still great, so that says something about the rest of the album! It is in short, the best album I have ever had the pleasure of hearing. Also make sure you go see them play live, it is excellent! They really kick ass up there on stage, and they certainly get the crowd going! Watch out for Brock's crazy + frequent crowd invasions. Go buy this album now! Buy Bitterness too! Then find when they are next playing near you and go and see them! Go go go! ;)

5.0 out of 5 stars 36 Crazyfists - A Snow Capped Romance 5 Mar 2004
Format:Audio CD
I managed to buy an advance copy of '36 Crazyfists - A Snow Capped Romance' last month and fell in love with it straight away. After first listen I thought it was a much heavier record than their last record 'Bitterness The Star' which is also an amazing album.
Every song on this 'A Snow Capped Romance' is really good, my favourites songs are 'At The End Of August', 'The Heart And The Shape', 'Destroy The Map' and 'Installing The Catheter'.
If you loved 'Bitterness The Star' then your gonna love this album. A must have for any 36 CF fan!

4.0 out of 5 stars Hear me Roar !! *Roars* 2 Jun 2004
Format:Audio CD
On paper lyrically these guys are almost top of their game. In practice... it's a little different. It all seems a little too screamy for me. It's a respectable album in its content if you sit down and actually study what their saying. For instance, in the song "Kenai", the first chorus sounds like hes "trying to buy a fight" and then he's going on about missing his home ?!... Then he goes on about mountains etc etc, and maybe it's just me that's totally not understanding what theyre saying, but I'm sure I'm not the only rock fan not to have 20 / 20 hearing as it were.
All the starting riffs to each song are probably the highlight of the album : A smart simple little riff placed nicely before the song just to gently break in the audience. Sometimes the riffs do get a little repetitive, as I've noticed often they're often being played throughout the song, maybe an octave or two lower.
My favourite on the album however is deffinately "Song for the fisherman". Quite different from all the other stuff on the album... very simple, no screaming, just talking. It seems like such a personal song, and comes across well. Other than that, Bloodworks worth a listen or two.
It's not a bad album: but as far as riffs go... it's pretty average.

5.0 out of 5 stars Pure Energy! 22 April 2004
Format:Audio CD
This album is a must for all 36 Crazyfists fans- actually, to tell you thetruth, this album is a must for all hardcore/metal fans who like to feeluplifted by the music that they are listening to. An eclectic range ofsongs are displayed on 'A Snow Capped Romance', but the most notableaspect of all of the tracks is that they are all beautifully energetic, with passion radiating from the vocals. Their last offering was a treat, but this shows the band maturing, with a more layered and complex soundand i think that we are shown exactly how talented this band is atsong-writing... The band are sounding immensely tight with greatsoundscapes created by the heavy riffs, intricate melodic moments and thelead singer's amazingly versatile voice- one minute you are hearing hisgreat melodic singing voice and the next minute you are presented withthroat-wrenching hardcore shouts. A fine album! Treat yourself, it's worthit...!
