Snow Bear is a brilliant book with a wonderful moral for children to remember... Theres no place like home!!! The bear is made of marvellous, elusive white velvet . . . mmmm . . . even parents will be distracted by stroking each page!!!! The book itself is about a little bear who is
so busy growing up that he nearly loses his mother. This classic plot,is not only sensually played out but teaches children without them even knowing it! A definite buy, every home should have one!!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars From the Snow Bear illustrator 25 July 2008
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
Please read my comment on Ms. R B Gladstone's review as I feel that she has been rather harsh in her criticisms. She clearly prefers non-fiction so why read Snow Bear - which is clearly fiction from the title alone!

Perhaps I should be grateful that she doesn't approve as the only other book she has reviewed (which she clearly loves) is now out of print.

Thank you for a used bood in excellent condition. After investigation I found this book to replace the one I damaged so I was overjoyed to discover I could still purchase it.

5.0 out of 5 stars It's a fun picture book - not a text book 23 Feb 2010
Love this book. The colours are beautifully evocative and the soft-touch effect of some on some of the illustrations is wonderfully soothing.
If you want a text book to teach children about polar bears then this really won't do. If you want a calm, touchy-feely bedtime book to read to your children - this fits the bill.

1.0 out of 5 stars polar bear or not? 23 Oct 2007
The illustrations are beautiful but the story? A child who has watched nature programmes where polar bears eat seals, mother bears keep a close eye on their young and forests tend to be further South might puzzle over the content of this story. What are we supposed to make of the clash between real polar bears and the plot, if anything?
