Product Description

Charles Schulz’s Peanuts is one of the most timeless and beloved comic strips ever. Now AMP! helps carry on that legacy with new collections of Peanuts classics focused around topics sure to resonate with middle-grade readers. Kicking off the series is Snoopy: Cowabunga!

First published in 1950, the classic Peanuts strip now appears in more than 2,200 newspapers in 75 countries in 25 languages. Phrases such as “security blanket” and “good grief,” which originated in the Peanuts world, are now part of the global vernacular, and images of Charles Schulz’s classic characters— Charlie Brown kicking the football, Lucy leaning over Schroeder’s piano—are now universally recognized.

Together these books will introduce a new generation of kids to the lovable cast in time for the new animated Peanuts movie, which hits theaters in 2015!

About the Author

Charles Schulz was both the brains and the brawn behind nearly 50 years of Peanuts comics from 1950 to his death in 2000.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hang-ten and More with Snoopy 27 April 2014
By tvtv3 - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
It's difficult to believe that Charles Schulz passed away in 2000. However, Schulz drew nearly 18,000 "Peanuts" strips in his life and "Peanuts" continues to carry on after his death. SNOOPY COWABUNGA! is a collection of "Peanuts" strips that mostly focuses on Snoopy. These strips have been published at least twice before in newspapers: they were published once when Schulz was alive and they were republished again after his death. There are dates listed next to the comics, but these dates refer to the second newspaper printings and not the original newspaper printings. I'm a huge fan of Charlie Brown and the "Peanuts" and I love seeing new books out that are being marketed towards younger people. Schulz always did that when he was alive and I'm glad that it continues.

At the end of the book there is a how to list of some activities kids can do: how to make a Woodstock bird feeder, how to make a Snoopy's doghouse origami; and how to make a Snoopy finger puppet. There are also some facts about Charles Schulz as well as a short history of the Charles M. Schulz Museum and some questions for reflection. There's also a list of places to go for further information. New versions of the book also contain a pull-out poster of the book's cover. Lastly, along the side margins of SNOOPY COWABUNGA! there is a flip book.

SNOOPY COWABUNGA! is not a complete "Peanuts" collection or treasury. Instead, it's a collection of "Peanuts" comics mostly having to do with Snoopy and is aimed at children.

5.0 out of 5 stars Kristi's Book Nook 25 Sep 2013
By Kristi Bernard - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
Snoopy, the loveable little pup and best friend to Charlie Brown has his own collection of fun adventures put together in one page turner. Young readers will laugh-out-loud as Snoopy interacts with all the Peanuts characters. Snoopy is not your ordinary dog character. He doesn't speak or bark, but types, reads his mail and the newspaper, spends most of his time wondering about dinner and shares a very special relationship with a little yellow bird named Woodstock.

Andrews McMeel Publishing, author Charles Schultz and the Museum and Research Center have compiled a section of the book titled More To Explore. Young readers are given instruction on making a recycled bird feeder, Snoopy's dog house, fun facts and more. There is also a Peanuts poster in the back that shows all of the Peanuts cast from throughout the years.

Parents and teachers can use this guide as an interactive tool for the activities, simple words and everyday life concepts that any reader could relate to. This book also has flip book animation. Kids can watch Snoopy run across the pages.

3.0 out of 5 stars They are a nice thing for a die hard collector to have 17 Aug 2014

I am a huge Peanuts fan, and I have nothing but respect for Charles Schulz. That said, the comics written at the end of this life weren't quite as amusing/poignant/heartwarming as the ones he wrote back in the 60s and 70s. The comic strips in this book are the ones written in the last few months of his life, just prior to retirement. They are a nice thing for a die hard collector to have, as they are Schultz' goodbye pieces. But if you are just a casual fan, he had better stuff.

5.0 out of 5 stars Snoopy: Cowabunga! 12 Dec 2013
By Rebecca L. Elson - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
This review originally appeared on The Magical Buffet website on 12/12/13.

Who doesn't love Snoopy? I mean, I was offered the chance to review "Snoopy: Cowabunga!" A Peanuts Collection, and obviously I said yes. I grew up reading pocket Peanuts books and my father is a big fan. However, what can be done to make a Peanuts book worth reviewing? How can you make it new or different? Well, guess what? "Snoopy: Cowabunga!" is incredibly exciting!

First off, we're talking 214 pages of full color Peanuts strips. And that's right, I said FULL COLOR. I didn't get that in my little pocket books. Along the side of the pages is a little Snoopy running back and forth. Yup, there is a bit of flip book action going on too!

Once you're done reading the strips there is actually MORE to do! There is a section of activities at the back of the book. Learn how to make a bird feeder for other Woodstocks out there, make a Snoopy finger puppet, or learn how comics can reflect life. There's still more activities, and there is a poster of all the Peanuts characters.

Now, let me just take a moment and blow your mind. At this point I assume you're impressed with all "Snoopy: Cowabunga!" has to offer, well here's the really amazing part. Suggested U.S.A. retail, $9.99. All of this for only $9.99! Hello holiday gift for like, everyone! Because like I said, who doesn't love Snoopy?
