This product is designed for caravanners and has a wealth of information on caravan sites with built in locations. Often my Garmin would not be able to find an exact match with the site details in the book with occasional disastrous results. I found set-up and menu navigation very straightforward and logical and if you arrive at a place without a booking you just search for nearest sites specifying what sort of facilities you would prefer. And yes, it might be a bit conservative and send you a long way round but it will keep you out of trouble when towing. I have been to some interesting places with Garmin that would have been challenging in a car. Admitted the screen definition and map presentation does not match TomTom or Garmin but when you are in traffic and having to watch the road ahead and several metres of caravan in your mirrors the big screen makes it much easier to see where you are going and gives crystal clear cameos of the junctions with visual count-downs so that you know exactly where your turn is. The speed camera warnings are the best I have experienced and the most reliable for accuracy. My first love was a TomTom and if I didn't tow a caravan I would have another, but I do and this is the best tool for the job.

I have been using the snooper ventura in spain for the last few months. What a great little tool when you are touring late afternoon and cant find a campsite, this will find one for you, give you directions, prices, a photo of the campsite and even the telephone number so you can give the site a call. It will also find stopover points that cost next to nothing if there are any in your area. The graphics are good, it gives speed limits, actual speed, hazards and so much more. I love it. If you tour a lot in a camper consider this its well woth the money.

This is a robust system made in China and uses NAVTEQ digital mapping. Its 7 inch screen is a great size for a
campervan but the definition is not as sharp as Tom Tom or Garmin. Yes you can programme in your
vehicle weight ,width, height and length and it will plan a route suitable for you. My main citicism is the logic of use.
You are always asked, car or motorhome and the map presentation is not a patch on Tom Tom. The routing logic
is not as efficient as Tom Tom and setting up needs a little practice. Changing route due traffic is available but
needs an aerial ( supplied) The information is text only no voice. The bluetooth works fine. Overall I much prefer
Tom Tom mainly due to sharpness of picture. Poor value for money.

HERE BE SHARKS. Buy TomTom, or Garmin, they are better anyway. I am entirely sure I bought including free maps [I registered within 30 days] for the life of the unit while it was still in my hands. That was confirmed when I logged in to update my maps. Then it wasn’t. Despite numerous emails I got a stonewall “you must pay” and …when it said before I bought that you will always be up to date it means the OPERATING SYSTEM not the maps.

So this unit is MUCH more expensive than others, because of the hidden / removed additional cost of map updates. Hence HERE BE SHARKS. I was not just remembering my friend’s TomTom which comes with free map uploads [but its better anyway]. I also don’t like the way several times I have been taken round in a circle. The idea was I would save time and petrol, not do circular tours. Maybe one of the free-at-the-moment operating system updates will solve that……. maybe? AVOID

This device seemed ideal, but in the middle of Northern Portugal, four days into a five-week trip, it gave up the ghost (after a few preparatory glitches) and no amount of cajoling, resetting and swearing at it would bring it back to life. A device such as this is as good as its reliability. If it doesn't work, it's no good. When we get back home, I shall be returning it and asking for my money back. One thing I have learnt is that I probably don't really need a navi. Paper maps don't die on you!

Found the Snooper very easy to read. Problem hearing instructions unless full volume is on. Worked very well in France and Northern Spain but proved unreliable in Bilbao where the road networks have not been logged on the most recent guidance. The campsite mentioned in central Bilbao on the Snooper does not exist. Otherwise my 1500 miles of motoring in an 8 metre motor home were greatly assisted by the Snooper
