Manufacturer's Description

Snooper 3Zero GPS & Radar / Laser Detector

Want to know which Speed Cameras are live?

Want to know where all the mobile laser traps are?

GPS tells you where the cameras are. Radar tells you if they are live and active.

Plus, Snooper 3Zero also incorporates the very latest Laser Technology, so can tell you where all the mobile Laser traps are as well.

The only speed camera detector to incorporate Radar, Laser and GPS technology in a single compact unit.

Since 1979 Snooper have been at the forefront of speed trap detection and over the years we have produced many award winning systems. The new 3ZERO 30th Anniversary Edition combines all the knowledge and expertise we have gained over that time.

As with all Snooper GPS locators, the 3ZERO uses the most advanced GPS technology possible to accurately alert you to the presence of all 'fixed' speed traps such as Gatso and Truvelo cameras as well as SPECs average speed cameras often found at motorway roadworks. For the first time however, Snooper has combined GPS and radar/laser technology in one portable device.

New and Improved radar/laser detection technology.

3ZERO has a couple of new tricks up it's sleeve. First of all it incorporates a highly sensitive laser detector designed to alert you to all types of mobile laser guns. Snooper's laser detection technology is more accurate than ever, giving longer detection ranges and more advanced pre-warning.

3ZERO also incorporates a highly sophisticated radar detector. Many speed traps such as Gatso cameras and handheld radar guns transmit a radar beam which determines how quickly you are travelling. 3ZERO can detect radar 'scatter' from these speed traps and provide advance warnings of their position.

"Whereas a normal GPS speed camera locator can only tell you where a speed camera is, 3ZERO is smarter and can actually tell you whether that speed camera is 'live' or not."

The most accurate GPS technology available combined with the most comprehensive speed camera database around.

The AURA advantage - not all speed trap databases are created equal.

Only Snooper speed camera detectors utilise our unique AURA database. All GPS location systems are only as good as the information that is stored inside them, therefore it is essential that your system uses the best there is. AURA was created to provide the very best automotive Speed Safety Camera database available.

Snooper 3ZERO is different to other non-Snooper systems because the AURA database allows you to download live updates 24 hours a day, every day. Cheaper, lower quality systems usually only give you the opportunity to download a database 4 times a year. This means that your system can be up to three months out of date before your next update. If you get caught out by a new speed camera you didn't know about, you'll have no-where to turn. With AURA, if a new speed camera appears, it will be live on our database within 48 hours.

The AURA database contains all information that is vital to today´s driver. The vast database now comprises the widest number of locations imaginable including: Gatso, MCS, Truvelo, Watchman, DS-2, Speedcurb, SPECs Average Speed Cameras, Mobile Laser sites, Mobile Camera Vans, Mobile Gatso and Truvelo Cameras, Accident Hotspots, High Risk Zones, Digital Cameras, Congestion Charge Cameras and Schools (optional). Plus the database includes the Speed Limits at all these locations so your Snooper Sapphire can count down accurately to the hazard.

As well as the UK and Ireland, the AURA speed trap database now offers Worldwide protection. Included in our system are locations in Germany, Holland, Belgium, France, Spain, Portugal, Switzerland, Italy, Austria, Luxembourg, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Poland, Romania, Russia, Bulgaria, North America, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa and is still growing.

So from Manchester to Monaco you will always be protected by Snooper.

Audible and visual alerts

Snooper 3ZERO incorporates a super-bright text display, which indicates the camera type, the distance to the speed trap and confirms the speed limit on that stretch of road. This is accompanied by a voice warning and then a series of beeps - but only if you are driving over the speed limit.

Installation

The 3ZERO can installed in seconds and can moved easily from vehicle to vehicle. Simply mount it on the dashboard or the on the windscreen with the mounting brackets provided. Power it from the cigarrette lighter socket, switch iton and you are ready to go.

Product Description

The Snooper 3ZERO has been specially designed to celebrate 30 years of developing and manufacturing the World's best speed trap detectors. The 3ZERO is the first combined portable GPS locator with radar/laser detection technology. 3ZERO will alert you to all fixed speed cameras using state-of-the-art GPS technology and the acclaimed AURA speed trap database. In addition however 3ZERO will also detect all types of mobile radar and laser speed traps using Snooper's award winning technology developed over 30 years. Features include voice alerts, bright dot matrix display, smart mute and auto ranging.

I got the device, and have updated it. Works fine, but be ware if you have a protective film on the front windshield, the device wont work at all. I mounted it beside the rearview mirrow, where there is no film, it works fine.

Another thing is that it doesnt show all the speed cameras, I have been driving around London for a few days, and I was suprised that it didn't warn me of several cameras. I manually stored those, but I believe that when you pay anually to have the database up to date, it should be 100% covered, specially in a city like London.

A great function I found, is that it beeps if any ambulances or police cars are near you, if K band is switched on, pretty cool.

I hope they get sorted out with the updating, beside this the divice is good, shows 95% of the cameras I have driven past, lets see what happens when I go to Switzerland :)

Cheers

Poor experience 13 Jan 2012
I bought this unit from Snooper Direct. Although the unit advertises its database thus; "The vast database now comprises the widest number of locations imaginable", my experience was quite different as my device missed several long established fixed camera sites and several "high risk" sites including one on the M74 which actually had a camera van in situ as I passed. In addition the unit gave three "LTI 20/20 Laser" false alerts in the space of a few hours. I was also unlucky with the hardware, the display having gone blank on the left hand side shortly after powerup.

I decided to return the unit as I found it unfit for purpose. After getting authorisation and returning the unit I heard nothing more from Snooper direct despite many emails. I eventually got a refund through Amazon's credit card which I used to pay for the unit although Snooper retained a £10 postage cost despite the unit having been advertised as free shipping. My requests for a refund of the £29.99 database subscription to Performance Products also went ignored until once again Amazon came to the rescue and recovered this along with the £10 postage fee.

Overall my experience was that of poor quality database and hardware and very poor customer service. Full marks to Amazon though for recovering my money.

Purchased a 3Zero three days ago and have already returned it.
This item works on very few operating systems.

From the 3Zero PDF instruction book:

The software will only operate on the following Windows based operating systems - Windows 2000, Windows XP (32bit) and Windows Vista (32bit).

NOTE: The Snooper 3Zero Updater software does not support Windows 95/98/98SE, Millennium and Apple Macintosh operating systems. Windows XP and Vista (64bit) are not supported.

I never found out whether the unit did as it said whilst on the road because my Vista 32 bit operating system kept responding with unknown USB device and I could never connect and download the camera database.

I contacted Snooper IT and they suggested that "some" Windows Vista systems are unable to see the device and to try another PC with a 32 bit system,to see if the unit was at fault. I don't have another, all are 64 bit. So I will never know if the device was faulty or just the provided software was at fault.

Pity the advertising for the 3Zero was painted to be so good. I've used another older Snooper device for over ten years with no problems. Alas it would appear this product was probably let down by poor CD software provided with it as this is the first time my PC has ever failed to recognise a USB device.
