Product Description

Product Description

From a London- and Paris-based team of sneaker enthusiasts, who are graphic designers and moving image makers in their spare time, comes this tribute to the shoe that has become a global obsession. With contributions from athletes, teen idols, moguls, and sneaker designers and enthusiasts worldwide, it offers a freeze-frame of this social phenomenon, including serious consideration of issues such as criminality, counterfeiting, exploitation, value for money and fashion. In the process of contacting all known sneaker freaks, the authors went surfing the Net - only to discover a parallel between the Internet and sneakers in terms of global communication, technology and obsessive behaviour. The result is a book structured as an Internet sight, with nodes, networks and key words for the reader to browse through a global conversation.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sneakers are Everthing, 13 Nov 2000
This review is from: Sneakers: Size Isn't Everything (Hardcover)
If you like sneakers, Music and Design then you'll probably find this one of the coolest books you've ever seen. As you start to turn the first few pages you'll soon discover that the quality layout, images and content will not disapoint even the most diehard Sneaker fan. There's brief history, and interviews with sneaker designers and makers, and also the people who wear them. Interviewed are, boxer Prince Naziem, Jay Kay from Jamiroquai, Snoop Dog, Steven Tyler from Aerosmith, artist Jake and Dino Chapman and many others from the world of Hip-Hop, Rock, Skate and Graffi culture. There's a piece about Marty Mcfly's hi-tech Nike sneakers from Back To The Future 2 which was really nice to see, I've wanted a pair since the first time I saw the film. There's also a few pages about sneacker masturbation! All in all this book is an absolute pleasure not only to read but also to look at and is somthing you'll come back to again and again. One of the coolest books around, and your friends will love it too!

An essential guide for any sneaker fanatic.

Another dead duck from the flock of booth-whatsit--- another "design" loser ---another desperate waste of good paper---another remaindered slab of toss--- another brick in the wall

Why do they bother? Do they think anyone cares?
