And that is not to say it is just another UK written crime novel.
This book is original and well written as it is also well plotted. Set in the cultural hot pot that is Bradford, the area is well brought to the page.
Where this book leads the field, is in its ability to play with the reader on red herrings. We don't drop from a great height here, we simply experience facts at the same time as the police and are privy to their interpretation of them. Hence, and unusually for a crime novel, we follow the investigation with the police in an unedited, but far from boring, fashion.
No one in this book is free from sin, error, misguided action. It's the most realistic book I have ever read.
The follow up is now published and it is on my list of "to buy". Lesley Horton has a great future in the crime writing genre. Read this book and be both entertained and stimulated.
