'Think Jilly Cooper but younger, trendier and much better ... a very funny and entertaining book’ (Minx )

the funniest, most enjoyable novel I have read all year. Fiona Walker is an unpolished diamond. She is clever, witty, sarcastic and satirical all at once. . . Walker's upbeat style with a barrel-load of one-liners and a cast of feisty characters make for compulsive reading ' (Southern Daily Echo )

Not up to the others! 14 July 2000
By A Customer
Format:Paperback
Expecting another excellent read after devouring her other three novels, I couldn't wait to get my hands on Snap Happy. Unfortunately, I found it disappointing and unsatisfying. The warmth and hilarity the author managed to deliver seemingly without effort in her other books are completely missing here. The characters are unbelievable and almost unsympathetic - especially Juno, whom I think to be far from funny but downright cruel sometimes. I'm surprised that a lot of readers obviously found her "jokes" witty. Don't get me wrong, the book is still notches above other novels with similar subjects, it just didn't captivate me. "Kiss Chase" will always be my favourite.

Im not usually a fan of this type of fiction, but I thought that Snap Happy was a really funny, touching book. I literally read the whole lot in one night, not finishing til 4am - its been years since I last did that! The thing I liked most was that Juno - the heroine of the story was a size 16-18, and although all her friends were the normal skinny wretches found in this type of novel, she was different. So as well as the usual love story and sex 'n' shopping type stuff, there was also some great writing on how it feels to grow up as a larger than the stereotyped average woman. Something I reckon that many women can relate to. The story line went along at a pretty fast pace, with everything happening in just under two weeks, you get to know the characters pretty well. Try it, I reckon you'll like this book.

My first 24 Jan 2007
Format:Paperback
This was the very first Fiona Walker book I ever bought. Its a thick old wedge of a book and a cracking read - so it's one I return to time and time again. When uber photographer Jay from NY swaps apartments with Sean from London he also takes on housesitting dutites for Poirot, a dirty talking macaw, and Juno - who happens to be a sexy, funny and terribly untidy stand up comic. With a great supporting cast (including the Bengal cat Bagel and U-boat the turtle) Ms Walker brings us a fantastic story, which is both funny and sad. When Jay says the words "dont try to love me, people dont" after being seduced by Juno, it breaks my heart ... and the love story that develops between the two characters is beautifully written.
