Manufacturer's Description

Wireless Controller for PlayStation 3

The Wireless Controller is 100% compatible with the PS3™ and includes all of the features of the Sony original. Rumble, Motion-Sensing and battery are built-in, and the Wireless Controller also features a Turbo function. Connecting the controller is easy: simply plug the receiver into your consoles USB-hub and you're ready to play.

The perfect controller for every need and every player!

The controller comes with vibration, Motion-Sensing, a Lithium-Ion battery and a programmable Turbo function. In addition, the triggers of the Wireless Controller have a concave design which helps prevent fingers from slipping off.

The Wireless Controller includes a ten-feet-long USB charging-cable and bonus concave L2/R2 triggers, which can be attached to the triggers of the original controller to improve handling. Simply plug the included receiver into the USB-hub of your PS3 and connect the controller with the home button.

Convincing features!

The snakebyte Wireless Controller will impress you with a latency-free gaming experience. The operating range of 30 feet also guarantees unrestricted gameplay, which will also not be constricted while charging with the ten-foot cable.

Any action buttons can be programmed with the Turbo function to simulate a fast, repeated pressing of the button at a frequency of 15 Hz. This is a very useful feature, especially in arcade shooters without an auto-fire function. The Clear button resets back to the default programming.

Due to its modified design, the snakebyte Wireless Controller features better handling than the original controller. In particular, players with large hands will appreciate the ergonomic optimization of the grips.

Quality in detail!

Despite the different ergonomics, PlayStation-veterans will feel right at home with the Wireless Controller. With its elongated grips and easily accessible buttons and triggers, the Wireless Controller features notably superior and more natural positioning for hands and thumbs.

The controller's analog sticks are specially designed and, along with a "Dead Zone" and maximum deflection similar to the original, feature a level of precision which some other third-party controllers simply cannot compete with.

Even the D-Pad and action buttons are well-made and built with high-quality materials. A long lifetime of high performance is our standard. Thus, the D-Pad combines the best aspects of both the round and the conventional cross-form and allows precise diagonal, vertical, and horizontal movements.

Let yourself be convinced by the outstanding handling and functions of the snakebyte Wireless Controller, just as the gaming media has been! Because with the snakebyte Wireless Controller for the PlayStation®3 console, you receive a high-quality and more cost-effective alternative to the original controller. Great features like the Turbo function, an outstanding battery life, and high-quality workmanship all speak for the Wireless Controller!

ConsolPlus reckons:
“The most prominent differences to the original here are the concave shoulder triggers, which work against sliding off with their form, also both analogue sticks, which push back with more force.”
Evaluation: 4 von 5
Consolplus, 04/2010, Pg. 9

Play3 reckons:
“The snakebyte controllers have earned plus points in the field test. The analogue sticks are, apart from the minimally bigger neutral zone (deadzone), nearly as precise as the DualShock 3, all buttons have a noticeable pressure point and the directional pad has also delighted us.”
“Particularly the L2 and R2 buttons are very felicitous; these are curved (concave) and prevent slipping off with the forefinger.”
“Snakebyte pads are very suitable for players with large hands, thanks to the long grip cornets and are therefore recommended as a slave controller.”
Overall ranking: "A" Play3, 02/2010, Pg. 72 reckons:
“The L2 and R2 buttons should be given special mentioning. The concave triggers were implemented here, instead of the common form as used on the original pad – similar to the ones used on the Xbox 360 control pad.
“No deficits occurred or were acknowledged in the field test. The vibrations function is reasonable and even the motion sensing technology cut a fine figure in the balance act in Mirror’s Edge. I could convince myself of the proper reaction of the analogue stick and the buttons while in a round of Modern Warfare 2 in the multiplayer mode. Result: No difference to the original. Bravo!”

Got this as a replacement for the official sony one as I didn't want to fork out the £30 plus and fancied something different. Different I defenitely got!! The shape takes a very short time to get used to but once you do you find the advatange and know why these guys went with such a different shape. Really fits securely into your palms giving you so much more control, the buttons are responsive as are the thumbsticks. If found this great for all the games I have, especially FIFA 11 (PS3), it works like a dream!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Trouble registering to PS3 9 Jan 2012
By Boris
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
Once up and running, this controller, for the amazon price, is great. I purchased this to go with a new PS3 I purchased at the same time. I am not a serious gamer, so maybe not best placed to test this controller, but for what I want it is fine and much much cheaper than the genuine article.
Originally thought I would have to return item as could not register it to my PS3.
Followed all instructions with no joy. I went onto the Snakebyte website. I ended up having an email converstion with one of their customer service advises which eventually managed to sort out my problem. I had to:-

Plug dongle (supplied with controller) into PS3 USB port and the USB lead into USB port(ready for controller).
Turn PS3 on (dongle light flashes fast for several seconds then slow)
The next stage has to be performed quickly while dongle is flashing fast.
Plug Controller into USB lead and press 'Home' button on controller.
Should end up with just one of controller lights on.

Will only register while dongle light flashes fast.

Can then use the controller either plugged into PS3 USB port or wirelessly (as long as dongle is plugged into PS3)

5.0 out of 5 stars A Good replacement 23 July 2010

Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
I got this controller as my original sony controller analogue thumb sticks has no rubber on it now. This controller is a little heavier than the original but very functional. The controller battery stays long, as it turns off automatically when not used. Very good problems for me

Fun: 1.0 out of 5 stars
I bought this as a spare controller for my PS3 slimline.
It will not charge and as a result it will not register/synch with the PS3.
After messing about with it for ages I decided to read the reviews about it. I just wish I had done so before buying it.
The problem is supposedly something to do with the firmware on the newer PS3's not being compatable with this controller.
It should not be sold on Amazon as a controller for PS3 because it simply does not work.
Utter crap. Do not buy one.
I would give it no stars if that was possible!

1.0 out of 5 stars Turbo? Please... 6 May 2012
By Rob

Fun: 1.0 out of 5 stars
I bought this product primarily for the turbo function it says it fires of 15 buttons a second I tested this on devil may cry hd collection using dante's pistols and if the turbo function does 15 button presses in 1 second then I do at least 60. If you want a turbo pad don't get this one you're better off mashing this product is useless as you can find cheaper pads elsewhere and the turbo is USELESS.

1.0 out of 5 stars Purchase with Caution! 27 Dec 2011
Fun: 1.0 out of 5 stars
Bought two of these for xmas so we had four controllers to play new 4 player games as a family.
Big big disappointment, just won't register with the console despite following all the instructions.
As the items are opened they cannot be returned to Amazon so after spending hours messing around I have to see if I can sort them out with the manufacturer!
100% compatible, award stickers, cakewalk to set up etc. etc. Forget it, not for me!!
In the end i'll probably have to buy two Sony ones having wasted the cost of one already!
I note the price has come down since I bought mine, now I know why.
I don't make a habbit of reviewing, this being my first, be warned.
Further disappointment I have to rate the item a star before I can post!!!

1.0 out of 5 stars Very Dissaponting so far... 27 Dec 2011
By SD245
Fun: 1.0 out of 5 stars
Just recieved one of these, bought it as an add on for a PS 3 slim that I got the kids for Xmas as it was much cheaper than an original Sony one, plus read loads of good reviews. It does not work!
Cannot get it to synch with my PS3. Snakebyte support suggest to get a replacement which I am in the procces of sorting out. But due to the time of year a real hassle that I could do without. So at the moment I rate this product as useless! If my replacement is any better I will post another review.
Well can't post another review so will edit this one.
Got a replacement controller and guess what... it still doesn't work. It appears that these controllers do not work with firmware versions above 3.5. My new PS 3 runs on firmware version 4.0. These controllers should not be advertised and sold as compatible with PS 3's if they cannot keep up with the most up to date PS 3 firmware. I will be sending it back for a refund and will probably buy a second hand controller from my local Game store.
Don't get caught out like I have been!
