As a bellydancer myself, I find so much of what is written rings true - in fact, this book is so honest, I wonder if the author has been drummed out of every troupe in town! She dishes the dirt, on herself, her family, the dance community, arab men - but in such an affectionate way you know she does so because she cares. This is a book about life, love, growth and relationships - it is not specific to those with an interest in dance or bellydance. A funny, uplifting book - I got in to work late because I was reading it!

This book is the biography of a (very interesting) 30 year old singe women who gets dumped and decides to take up a belly dancing class while she gets over it. It follows her dance classes and her love life.
It is an uplifting fun book (parts are really funny) all about the joy of the dance and breaking out of the mould and not being afraid to be different.
This would be a good book to read when your in a bad mood and will probably make you want to try belly dancing.

A true story and a gripping yarn for many different readers - whether you are into bellydance (for a glimpse at the joys and egos behind the scenes!) or interested in exploring your mixed cultural or religious background, or in reading the uplifting story of a woman in her 30s moving beyond heartbreak. The author writes with honesty and in a fun, engaging manner. A very enjoyable read.
