1.0 out of 5 stars Not the best of Brass 27 May 2006
Format:DVD
I've been a big fan of the work of Tinto Brass ever since buying 'All Ladies Do It' several years ago and was looking forward to the release of his new films.

'Snackbar Budapest' however is a massive disapointment. It's a rambling, almost incoherent mess of a thriller, with few of the touches that make Brass the unique Director he is.

Brass can make more seroius pictures, 'Black Angel' is proof of that, but this will neither please the fans of his erotic films or his more serious works as it fails to succeed as a thriller or contain any particulary sexy scenes.

Try 'Mon amour' instead if you want Brass at his best.

Given the shortage of inspiration (and collections), Brass temporarily leaving the soft-porn and try to return to its roots earnest. The result is an embarrassing yellow-noir melodrama where the inconsistency, the fragmented narrative and absurdity dominate. Laughable. Sic Visible. Tinto Brass obsessed lovers, do not worry he'll get over soon. However one sees his hand: beautiful shots, Giancarlo Giannini enhanced by close-ups, but aihme 'a plot to amateur! Tinto excuse, I saw almost all your movies, but this just does not deserve your talent ... I would in my drawer a drama series, which appears the Budapest of the late 70's, .. please contact me.

2.0 out of 5 stars Negative review of Snackbar Budapest 5 May 2012

Compared to other Tinto Brass good bright sexy movies this is poorly made. Stupid gang violence story line, bad dialoge and the video poor quality. No charachters here.I love Giancarlo Gianini, but his talent was wasted here. Just a bunch of girls running around. Don't waste your money. Rent/buy: The Key, Frivolous Lola, Miranda, Cheeky etc....
5.0 out of 5 stars not what you expect from a master. 18 Feb 2013

Not what you expect from Tinto Brass, yes, this is serious stuff--life as is. It is very often that life is confusing and we have to risk everything just to make a point which maybe against our ability to survive and this summarize all movie. Tinto Brass actually step on himself as he prefer easy way--good looking chicks, happy ending, sex, easy, easy--life is too short. The movie structured in right direction, characters developing, chicks hot but behave badly. Enjoy!
