Product Description

This is a season of secrets, scandal and seduction in high society! Set in Regency England, this continuity sweeps you from glittering ballrooms, to a smuggler's cove in Cornwall, to the wilds of Scotland, a Romany camp, and back again. Each story has a passionate, intense, central relationship but the thread linking them together is a darkly dangerous, yet sexy stranger, who is out for revenge, delivering a silken rope as his calling card. Through him, a long-forgotten past is stirred to life, and the notorious events of 1794 which saw one man murdered and another hanged for the crime, are brought in to question. Was the right man brought to justice or is there still a treacherous murderer at large?

Book 3 in the 'Regency Silk & Scandal' series 17 Oct 2010
By sarah stewart - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Mass Market Paperback
Lady Honoria Carlow has been ruined and banished to Cornwall. Knowing she is never likely to make a respectable marriage, Honoria considers an affair with the dashing smuggler Gabriel Hawksworth. Despite the fact that he is a thoroughly unsuitable match for her, Honaria finds herself falling in love with him because he is the only person who has believed that she has been cruelly wronged. The question is: will Gabriel ever give up his illegal way of life to settle down with her? And will the class differences between them get in the way of their 'happy ever after'.

I am a great fan of Julia Justiss. Her books The Courtesan and Scandalous Proposal (Historical) are on my keepers shelf. But I am afraid I found this book to be pretty ordinary - the plot was unexciting and the characters did not stand out. It is meant to be a stand alone book but I would recommend you read it after the first book in the series The Lord and the Wayward Lady (Harlequin Historical) so you can see the context of this story. It's an OK read but I would not rush out to buy it unless you are following the "Silk and Scandal" series.
