Product Description

Synopsis

Some days just begin badly and from then on nothing goes right. One morning, Smudge stomps out of her room in her wrongly buttoned-up shirt, and can't wait to provoke an argument with Stripe. Smudge ends up storming out of the house. Will returning home be too much for her pride? Or will Smudge's day turn out alright after all? An irresistible, reassuring book for everyone who has the occasional grumpy day.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant Read 10 Oct 2012
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
My daughter and I love this book, it is through this book that my daughter has learnt about how it feels when she is being grumpy. All I have to say to her now when she is grumpy is 'OK Smudge', she soon realises what I am saying and the attitude disappears.
Its a lovely read which allows you to do grumpy, sad and happy voices to give it some effect

5.0 out of 5 stars A book ages 4-7 can really relate to 17 Jan 2008
By Samantha Stephens - Published on Amazon.com
Smudge is a favourite in our house and this book was a good addition to our collection. My 5 year-old loves the story and really relates to the grumpy day Smudge has, asking for it to be read over and over. She likes that Smudge has many of the same feelings as she does on her own grumpy days, and is comforted and reassured that in the end, Smudge's friend Stripe continues to love and take care of Smudge despite her angry and frustrated outbursts with him. We all have grumpy days from time to time and this book lets little ones know it's okay to have those emotions, and that the grown ups in their lives will love them just the same. Aside from the story, the illustrations are wonderful and fun.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great book -- cute illustrations 15 Dec 2002
By "wisett" - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover
We bought this book through my son's Scholastic book club and it has quickly become a favorite. Even moms and dads can relate to Smudge as her morning goes horribly wrong (stubbed toe, buttons askew)! It's also a great book to illustrate to kids that everyone has a bad day that can get better and that everything will be OK.
5.0 out of 5 stars Great book! 23 Dec 2013

The book is very sturdy, grandson can't tear out the pictures! He loves having the book read to him and is beginning to know what is coming next and trying to imitate the words. He had the book in paperback before and carried a page or two, that he had ripped out, around with him. I am very pleased with the purchase.

The children love this book. It shows them that everyone can have a bad day. Friends and family love each other no matter what.
